Western Australia is huge: bananas and vegetables in Carnarvon, melons in Kununurra, apples and avocados in the South West, vineyards in Margaret River. Everywhere outside the Perth metro area counts, and the north is Northern Australia.

📍 What counts in Western Australia

Plant and animal cultivation and construction count in regional WA for both the 417 and the 462. Perth and its suburbs don’t count (including Wanneroo and the Swan Valley), but Gingin, Bullsbrook, Bunbury and the whole South West do. Carnarvon, Exmouth, the Pilbara and the Kimberley are also Northern Australia: tourism and hospitality count there for both visas.
